07/21/2007: "Rainbow's Running!"

As Channa mentioned, our little black heifer calf gets frisky each night on the way back to the barn. I saw an example of this last Saturday night: she went zooming around the place, kicking and bucking for the sheer joy of being young and alive. Sometimes she'll do it in the morning, too. Sunday morning we all stood outside the cow shed waiting for Aura and Rainbow to come out, camera at the ready. Aura must have sensed the tension, for she initially wouldn't come out at all, and finally came out tentatively and the headed in the wrong direction! Eventually, however, she got turned around and headed out to the orchard, and Rainbow did a little running for us with the camera rolling.
