12/03/2006: "The Queen has Arrived!"

At long last, Queen Aura joins Living Green Farm.

Check out those horns!

So this is a tiny tiny cow. Queen Aura is a Dexter cow, which generally are a small dual purpose cattle breed, used for both milk and meat, and sometimes draft.

Dorothy kindly delivered Queen Aura, and led her to her new home. Esther came by to pay homage to her Majesty. Aura took it all in stride, pausing to take in her new kingdom and sample the choice grasses of the field.

Dorothy coached Nate on handling Queen Aura, and Aura taught Nate how she wants to be handled.

Aura really soaked up the surroundings, as curious as a cat. She investigated the vineyard and the fenceline. Nate and I are certainly smitten with her.

Dorothy taught Nate how to milk her, and we all sipped a bit of the rich, wonderful, fresh milk. We're very thankful to have this amazing addition to our lives!
