12/01/2006: "Living Green Gets a White Dusting"

It snowed! Down here in the Willamette Valley, where it's warm and rainy all fall, winter and spring, it's unusual to get any snow that sticks. You can imagine our surprise when the weather forecast called for up to 3 inches! Almost every year, the foothills get a couple of nice dustings. But snow on the farm? Amazing!

Yes, I know you in the midwest will be laughing at our idea of a "snowstorm". But really, we have snow not an hour away in the grand Cascades, so we're not that unused to it. But, even an inch causes a major driving hazard for populations that don't practice driving in the snow.

Here's one of those wonderful apple trees, still hanging onto a little fruit.

It stopped snowing by midday and melted by afternoon. But it was fun while it lasted!
There's a mighty rumour that Queen Aura will be arriving this weekend. We're looking forward to it!
